Channel 4 documentary series One Born Every Minute hit its stride last night, Tuesday, 23 February, with the third episode attracting more than 3 million viewers.
The series, which documents goings on in a maternity ward, was watched by 3.285 million viewers and attracted a 12.9% share in the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnights. Another 347,000 (1.8%) watched on Channel 4 +1 an hour later.
One Born Every Minute finished second in the 9pm slot with its best figures yet, up by nearly 800,000 viewers on last week's episode.
The Channel 4 documentary just inched ahead of the final leg of Channel Five's CSI Trilogy which links the franchise's Las Vegas, Miami and New York branches. CSI had 3.218 million (12.7%).
Survivors concluded its second series by winning the 9pm hour for BBC1 with 3.667 million (14.4%), while BBC2's live Winter Olympics coverage – including the women's ski-cross final – landed fourth, attracting 3.021 million (12.5%) over 90 minutes to 10.30pm.
ITV1 was beaten into fifth place in the 9pm hour, with documentary Seven Days of Traffic watched by 1.995 million (7.8%).
BBC4's docudrama On Expenses, starring Anna Maxwell Martin as freedom of information campaigner Heather Brooke and Brian Cox as the former House of Commons speaker Michael Martin, had 776,000 (3.1%) in the 9pm hour.
On Expenses was the second most watched multichannel show of the day, behind BBC3's narrative repeat of EastEnders, which drew 1.041 million (4.8%) from 10pm.
Earlier on BBC1, EastEnders had 10.441 million (43%) in the half hour from 7.30pm, while ITV1's Emmerdale attracted 7.105 million (31.4%) in the preceding 30 minutes.
